Apex Legends from Respawn Entertainment is receiving the board game treatment after the business unveiled one. Board games based on well-known video games are nothing new, whether it's Wordle or the Lord of the Rings tabletop RPG based on Dungeons and Dragons 5e. Nonetheless, Apex Legends and Respawn will be debuting the new board game. In the game, players can prepare an adequate amount of Apex Legends Apex Coins Top Up.

While tabletop gaming may traditionally be a niche market compared to the mainstream gaming industry, the genre seems to have grown in popularity over the years. For example, back in June 2022, the Cyberpunk 2077 board game was launched on Kickstarter, surpassing its $100,000 goal within hours. Of course, it's unclear how well the battle royale-based board game will fare. Though if the passionate fan base is anything to go by, something on the scale of Apex Legends will likely attract a lot of attention from gamers.

Respawn Entertainment, in partnership with Glass Cannon Unplugged, announced that the Kickstarter campaign for the official Apex Legends: The Board Game is set to begin on May 17. According to the announcement, it's described as a "competitive, tactical team-based "miniature game" designed for two to four players, with expansions that could see more players added. Though it might not be the most time-consuming tabletop game out there. One, but each session takes about an hour. Here, each player will play as one of four legends from Bangalore, Hound, Ghost and Gibraltar.

According to Glass Cannon Unplugged, the Apex Legends board game has been in development for two years as an attempt to recreate the hero shooter in board game form. Jakub Wisniewski, CEO of the board game studio, described Apex Legends: The Board Game as not a single game, but a game designed to welcome newcomers to the hobby, crafted in a way that "in some late stages Phase includes organized games". Longer term, Glass Cannon hopes to have more and more modular maps and interchangeable legends. Fans looking forward to more details may have to wait until the Kickstarter campaign kicks off in May.

Of course, Apex Legends isn't the only game series currently attempting to become a board game. The Last of Us: Escape from Darkness, a board game based on the film The Last of Us, was announced as a Kickstarter project late last year. In less than 24 hours, the campaign was able to surpass its £120,000 ($145,344) target. The reception to the Apex Legends board game is still unknown, but recent fundraising initiatives for other well-known game brands may be a positive indicator for Glass Cannon and Respawn.
